Infinite Space: Initial Thoughts

April 20, 2010

I recently picked up Infinite Space from my local electronic games retailer and I have to say, I’m impressed.  It’s in the style of the 1970s/80s anime space travel shows with a little bit of the game Privateer thrown in.  The idea is you’re this guy Yuri and you acquire and customize a fleet of ships and have space battles and there’s some overall mission and some sort of secretly evil gentleman controlling things, which is pretty much par for the course in this genre.  There’s lot of stupid fake space/future swear words and campy dialogue, but underneath all of those trappings is a very good game.

A word to the wise:

The in-game tutorial is unintuitive and useless so if you decide to pick it up, check out this series of tutorials put out by Sega on youtube:

Anyway, I’m only 3-4 hours in, but I highly recommend it for some campy fun anime space travel adventures.
